Summer is in full swing, which means one thing: summer vacations! Everyone you know is planning that perfect summer get away. Your friend Sarah is headed to the beach. Your cousin Craig is going camping. Your parents are headed on a cruise to the Bahamas. And you are headed to your favorite amusement park. Everyone is going somewhere different, but everyone has one thing in common: the need for Skin Care.


Your skin protects everything. So it is important to protect your skin. Your skin deserves the proper care and attention. And it all begins with sunscreen. You should wear sunscreen each and every day, even if you are not lounging on your favorite beach reading a good book. 78% of all the sun damage incurred in a lifetime is from incidental exposure, according to information from the UCLA skin research department. Use sunscreens that contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide with an SPF of 15 or higher. But sunscreen is just the beginning.

  2. Accessorize: Wearing a hat is more than just a fashion statement. It can help protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun. Sunglasses are also great, as they can protect your eyes and the sensitive skin around your eyes. Look for UV-blocking sunglasses with 99 to 100 percent absorption.
  3. Antioxidants: Foods high in antioxidants - like vegetables, fruits, super foods such as acai, coconut water, maca, and cacao – can help, as well.
  4. Vitamin D: Vitamin D deficiency can put you at greater risk of skin damage.


At the end of the day, too much sun exposure does more than give you a nasty sunburn. Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States and possibly the most preventable. Sun exposure is also the No. 1 cause of lines and wrinkles! So do yourself a favor and protect your skin.
